So you are getting married – Massive Congratulations!
Now you have some big commitments ahead of you (apart from getting married!). Lots of decisions to make and lots of suppliers to meet. Hopefully this page will help making a few of these decisions a little bit easier and help you trust your Plymouth wedding photographer!
It is hard to pick which order to do things in but typically brides (and grooms!) will book the venue followed by booking the photographer.
But Emily how do I pick a Plymouth wedding photographer? There are so many to choose from!
Hopefully this page will give you some basic guidance to choosing the perfect photographer for your wedding.
First I would recommend that you decide what you would like out of your wedding photographs? Do you want a traditional photographer or would you prefer a more reportage style? How long do you want them to be at your wedding? Have you got a budget in mind? Once you have some answers to a few of these questions you have started building yourself a picture of your photographer.
How can I find this person?
Having chosen your venue I advise you ask them if they have a recommended supplier list. They will recommend certain individuals as they have an existing good relationship and the photographer will know the venue inside out. You will also be able to see examples of how some of your photographs may look. Maybe looking at one of their photographs made you fall in love with the venue?
But Emily that photographer is slightly out of our budget?
Don’t worry! In the lead up to your wedding you will probably be attending lots of wedding fairs and meeting lots of suppliers. If you haven’t already I am sure you will be approached by at least one photographer. They will have albums available for you to have a nosey through.
It was all a bit overwhelming and I have been given so many Plymouth business cards I don’t know where to start!
I would always suggest doing a quick Google search. This should bring up reviews from past clients (good or bad!). Have a look on their website at past weddings – do you like what you see? Have a read through their ‘About Me‘ section – could you envisage this person following you around all day? I would also recommend having a look on their social media pages too. It is a great way to keep updated quickly so I suggest following them or giving them a quick ‘like’ on Facebook and Instagram.
Lastly recommendations from friends are so important. Has your bestie got married recently? Did you love the photographer? Get in touch!
Obviously photographers do get booked up very quickly so it is important to secure your date quickly once you have found a photographer that you love.
But before you do I recommend that you get some additional information from them first. Here are a few of my suggestions: Is their equipment insured? Do they have public liability and indemnity insurance? Can you see the contract to have a read through before committing? What happens if they are ill and are unable to attend? Can you meet with them beforehand? Will they visit your venue before the wedding? Can you have an engagement shoot? How long before you can have the photos?
